7:00 PM. Monthly meeting of the Knox County Democratic Women. Joe Rugola will be the featured speaker. Rugola, a key labor leader, will discuss the meaning of President-elect Barak Obama’s election as well as focus on the results of the local and state races. He will be able to give us a first-hand account of the “rustbowl” part of Ohio. After meeting with Obama on numerous occasions prior to the election, Rugola embarked on a 300-mile walking tour of those areas of Ohio hard hit by the loss of over 180,00 manufacturing jobs.

A new initiative centering around a series of topics of concern to the people of Knox County will also be introduced. These topics include poverty, diversity, mental health and the environment. Committee chair people will be selected along with individual committees to plan how each topic will be introduced to the local community throughout the year.

Following the discussion there will be a small holiday party. Members of the organization are encouraged to bring canned goods and boxed meals as part of the upcoming Food for the Hungry Drive to help stock the food pantries of Interchurch.

The general public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
